What is Embodied Learning?

Want to know the secret to avoid adding (yet another) course to your ‘never quite finished’ shelf?

We’ve all bought a training (or five) that didn’t deliver. Perhaps…

  • You lost interest halfway through
  • The star-studded lineup of teachers turned out to be an incohesive mess
  • The pricing looked too good to be true (and it was)
  • The mentors had no vibe & couldn’t hold a resonant space

These experiences are a rite of passage. We’ve all been there, as we figure out how to discern the meaningful experiences from the mediocre ones.

In an age of decentralized education, where the enclosures of universities no longer enforce the boundaries of learning, the options are endless.

While saying yes to something new always involves some element of risk. It’s a step into the unknown, after all…

I believe we can minimize the risk, if we know what to look for.

If you want facts and figures, break out your library card & go get a book.

But if you want new skills & possibilities baked into your cells, find a space of embodied learning.

Embodied learning is about….

↪️Metabolizing concepts through our body.

↪️Learning through resonance & access to masterful mentors (as well as through facts & data)

↪️Turning theory into wisdom by engaging in rich inner processes and practice.

This is what I’m willing to pay for.

This is an often under-assessed dimension of training and experiences. The space to embody what you’re learning.

I once bought a fancy kitchen machine. It has so many functions! But once I got it home I felt overwhelmed about how to change my cooking practices to get the most out of it. So it sat on my kitchen bench. “What a waste” I started to think.

Then, a consultant came over for the ‘intro session’ to take it for a test drive with me. We spoke about my cooking style, my goals, and she helped me find recipes and talked me through a recipe or two.

💡💡💡💡Light bulb moment!

The opportunity to engage my body in something new, in a supportive place, with someone expert to ask questions of was a game changer.

I wasn’t left to my own to find the answer in a 1,000-page manual, or to get it wrong 20 times before I figured it out by myself. Ain’t no one got time for that.

Just an expert mentor, a safe space for my body to practice, where no question was too dumb.

This kitchen machine went from an expensive benchtop ornament to my most used item – overnight! 💡

It’s easy to create a training overflowing with data, facts & PDFs. These abound on the internet, and they look kind of similar at face value.

But once you scratch under the surface to ask:

  • How will I be invited to engage in the material?
  • How much mentor access will I have?
  • How much practice will we be invited to do, together?
  • How much feedback will you offer?
  • Do you have a vibrant & active community?
  • What kind of values does your community space hold?
  • Will I be able to engage and practice with peers?
  • Will I be able to ask unlimited questions & never feel dumb doing it?

Most training has zero embodied learning built into their experiences. For those who are strong self-starters & who want to do all the implementation themselves, this could work.

But for those of us who want to venture into the unknown, who want to soften & be held. For those of us who want to do things faster by accessing community & on-demand help. Then embodied learning spaces are where it’s at.

In our corner of the universe that’s all about feminine embodiment & coaching skills, we believe embodied learning requires:

  • We metabolize what we’re learning through the body
  • Vulnerability is prioritized
  • We have access to mentors with resonance
  • We belong in a community centering feminized values
  • Structures & accountability that will do the holding for us

If you’ve been searching for practitioner-level embodiment skills in a community that enters embodied learning…. we’d love to speak with you about the Feminine Embodiment Coaching Certification.
